Impact Assessment
Impact Assessment
This coaching assessment tool is popular for its simple & clear structure that provides a well-rounded view of the coaching impact on the individual, organization, & society
Impact Assessment is an insightful and concise way of bringing into perspective the impact of a recently concluded coaching engagement. It is administered at the end of any Leadership Development Program and consists of open-ended questions that are answered by participants and their stakeholders. The purpose is to get a holistic view of impact at individual, organizational and societal levels. Respondents are asked to categorize the impact of the coaching intervention at each of these levels as episodic, developmental or transformational.
On the whole, Impact Assessment is a great framework to analyze a participant’s progress and improvement.
Given that the impact is assessed at the individual, organization, and societal levels, this end-of-journey tool is tailor-made for participants who have gone through a Leadership Development Program.
However, the tool is also broad enough to efficiently assess the impact for other types of leadership coaching & development. It’s especially insightful for interventions where your participant and you focused on themselves as an individual, their role as a leader in their organization, and their impact as a leader on their community.
While there are many tools that try to help a coach measure their impact on a client, the greatest benefit of this tool is the simple and clear structure of the questions and the manner in which it presents the assessment of your impact. No lengthy, complicated, ambiguous questions that confuse stakeholders, but clear, concise ones that provide the participant a beautiful snapshot of their progress; and most importantly, respondents are also asked to provide actionable steps on how to sustain progress post your last session.
In addition to these benefits, this neatness in the structure of the responses helps you easily showcase your impact as a coach, demonstrating clear ROI & ROE (Return on Investment & Engagement) to current and future HR sponsors.
The Impact Assessment is best used at the end of the intervention, but can also be additionally administered at the middle of a long engagement.
This tool is extremely useful to show coachees the mirror on their progress and even in capturing their stakeholders’ and colleagues’ appreciation.
