Introduction

Dr. Vijay Raaghavan has spent over two decades at the crossroads of healthcare, technology, and human behavior. He began his career in healthcare consulting, building a deep understanding of how organizations make decisions, and where they break down. Over time, that curiosity evolved into a singular focus: designing AI and digital systems that people actually trust and use, not just ones that get deployed and forgotten.

What He Does

Vijay works at the intersection of behavioral science, design, and artificial intelligence. At Fractal, he leads cross-functional teams, engineers, designers, and behavioral scientists, using what he calls a “decision-backward” approach: starting with how people decide, then building AI around that reality. His work spans enterprise clients across health, life sciences, and beyond.

Career Highlights

Before Fractal, Vijay spent nearly eight years at PwC India, rising to Director of Digital Health, a period during which he presented on the future of digital healthcare at Telemedicon 2016. Earlier, he led engagements at Medium Healthcare Consulting, giving him ground-level experience in how health systems actually function. Alongside his corporate career, he has mentored startups through the German Accelerator and EU-India Innocenter for a combined seven-plus years, advising founders on scaling globally and navigating complex markets.

Education

Vijay holds a Master of Health Administration from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and completed an Executive Management Programme in Business Innovations in Global Healthcare at Harvard Business School.

Philosophy

He believes that the gap between AI that gets built and AI that gets used is almost never a technology problem, it’s a behavior problem. His approach to fixing it: design for how people actually work, not how we wish they would.
